We believe that workers should be earning a living wage in a safe and decent working environment, and that those who benefit the most from the exploitation of sweatshop workers must be held accountable.

CHIRLA has moved far beyond that to become the only broad-based, multiethnic umbrella immigrant advocacy organization in Los Angeles.

http://www.elrescate.org Founded in 1981 by members of the Santana Chirino Amaya Refugee committee (SCARC) and the Southern California Ecumenical Council, El Rescate was the first agency in the US to respond with free legal and social services to the mass influx of refugees fleeing the war in El Salvador.During the 1980s El Rescate opened the Clinica Monseor Romero, providing free medical care to the refugee community (1983) and El Refugio (1987) which served as a transitional housing shelter for newly arrived refugees.

Members of the Salvadoran community and supporters founded Clinica in 1983. Clinica serves uninsured multi-ethnic and multi-racial populations. Clinica Romero is a State-licensed, FQHC-Federally Qualified Healthcare Center that accepts MediCal and DentiCal.
